Huntington Regional Chamber Now Accepting Applications for New Youth Advisory Board
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for its inaugural Youth Advisory Board, a new initiative designed to give Cabell and Wayne County high school students a voice in shaping the future of the Huntington region while developing leadership and professional skills.
Youth Advisory Board members will engage with local business and community leaders, attend events and enhance the image of the Huntington area through digital storytelling while developing leadership skills and gaining exposure to career pathways throughout the region.
Megan Archer, President & CEO of the Chamber, said the idea for the Youth Advisory Board began when Huntington High School student and West Virginia FBLA State President London Donahoe and fellow student Jenna Lindsay approached the Chamber about creating a program that would better connect young people with the local business community.
“Together, we’ve developed a vision for an advisory board that provides students with a seat at the table while helping them explore leadership, civic engagement, and career opportunities,” Archer said. “Today’s students are tomorrow’s workforce, entrepreneurs, educators, healthcare professionals, and community leaders. By investing in young people today and giving them opportunities to contribute, we’re helping build a stronger future for our region.”
Youth Advisory Board Chair London Donahoe said the Chamber encourages applications from students who are curious, engaged, and interested in making a difference.
“We are not just looking for students who are student body presidents; we want our board to represent our region’s diverse student population,” said Donahoe.
Students and families can learn more about the program, review eligibility requirements, and apply through the Huntington Regional Chamber’s website by visiting www.huntingtonchamber.org/youth-advisory-board/.
Applications must be submitted by Friday, August 7, 2026, to be considered.
