Huntington, WV – Megan Archer has been named the next president and chief executive officer of the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce, a non-profit association dedicated to promoting economic growth and improving the business climate in Cabell and Wayne Counties.
"As someone deeply committed to fostering strong relationships, I am honored to step into the role of President and CEO of the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce," said Archer. "Huntington has experienced significant momentum and growth in recent years, and I'm excited to leverage my background in public relations and community engagement to continue building partnerships that support our local businesses and drive forward our region's economic growth."
Archer most recently served as the Digital Marketing and Media Manager for Marshall Health Network, where she led enterprise-wide digital marketing and media campaigns for a $1.7 billion healthcare system with more than 9,000 employees, enhancing brand visibility and the organizational profile of the largest employer in Cabell County.
Prior to her role at Marshall Health Network, Archer served as the Communications Coordinator for the West Virginia Department of Education, where she executed comprehensive public relations campaigns to promote educational policies and programs, while also managing crisis communications during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in West Virginia’s PK-12 public education system.
From 2013 to 2020, Archer worked in the Marshall University Communications Department, ultimately advancing to Assistant Director of Communications. In this role, she led university-wide communications strategies, enhancing the institution's reputation and fostering relationships with local businesses, alumni, and community leaders to support educational and economic initiatives. She also played an instrumental role in the initial planning and promotion of Marshall Rises, a major capital fundraising campaign that has successfully secured more than $176 million to date.
Archer has also served the community in various capacities. She is currently the Communications Officer on the Board of Directors for The Junior League of Huntington. She has been a board member of The Huntington Scottish Rite Foundation, co-director of Marshall University's iCanShine program, and served as a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Tri-State. She recently received the Teen Champion: Teen Choice Award from Marshall Health Network Volunteer Services and was a Gold & Silver Award recipient at the 41st Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards.
"On behalf of the Board, we are excited to welcome Megan," said Barry Burgess, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce. "She brings invaluable experience and enthusiasm, and we look forward to the positive impact she will have in leading the Chamber as it continues to advocate for businesses in Cabell and Wayne counties."
Archer was a member of the inaugural Leadership Huntington Class of 2023-2024, a program offered through the Huntington Regional Chamber designed to connect, develop, empower, and mobilize current and emerging leaders committed to making a difference in the Huntington region.
"As a graduate of the Chamber's inaugural Leadership Huntington class, I already feel as if I am woven into the Chamber's fabric and immersed in its mission to drive growth, support local businesses, and foster meaningful connections throughout our community," said Archer. "The program gave me a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our region, along with the tools and relationships needed to make a lasting impact. This experience has not only shaped my perspective but also solidified my commitment to lead with purpose."
Archer will succeed Tricia Ball, who left the position in October to become the executive director of Marshall University's iCenter.
"I am particularly excited about building upon the momentum the Chamber has experienced in recent years under Tricia’s leadership and continuing to work toward the goals set forth in the Chamber’s strategic plan," said Archer. "Having the chance to lead the Chamber during this critical time for businesses in today’s evolving economic landscape is both an immense privilege and a tremendous responsibility. We will continue to support our members and navigate the opportunities that lie ahead."
A native of Parkersburg, WV, Archer earned a bachelor's degree in Public Relations from Marshall University in 2010 and a master's degree in Corporate Media from Marietta College in 2012. She and her husband, Lane, live in Huntington with their three puppies: Debo, Honey, and Chance.
Archer will assume the position on Dec. 2.
