About the Position

The Director of Marketing will lead the Chamber’s marketing and communications efforts to elevate the organization’s visibility, promote programs and events, and engage members and the broader community. This role combines strategic thinking with creative execution, ensuring that the Chamber’s brand, messaging, and initiatives resonate with diverse audiences. The Director will report directly to the Chamber President & CEO and will work closely with the Director of Membership and Office & Events Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing / PR Duties

  • Develop and implement marketing and communications strategies to support Chamber goals.
  • Oversee content creation for digital platforms, print materials, newsletters, and social media.
  • Capture photo and video of Chamber and member events for social media and web content
  • Manage public relations efforts, including press releases, media relations, and community outreach.
  • Collaborate with staff, board members, and external partners to promote events, programs, and initiatives.
  • Develop strategy and analyze marketing campaigns, track metrics, and adjust strategies to maximize engagement and ROI.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all communications and platforms.
  • Supervise and mentor marketing staff or interns as needed.

Other

  • Assist with “all hands-on deck” events, such as the Annual Dinner, Business After Hours Expo, and other events as needed
  • Participate in member and community activities and events

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in marketing, preferably in a nonprofit, business, or a Chamber setting.
  • Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Proficiency with social media, basic photography/videography, email marketing, website content management, and design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.).
  • Experience in event promotion and community engagement.
  • Strategic thinker with creativity, adaptability, and a results-driven mindset.
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized; a proactive self-starter.

The Director will work in the Chamber office located in River Tower (1108 Third Ave, Suite 300 Huntington, WV 25701). Work hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays, plus Chamber events (1-2 evening events per month).

This is a salaried, full-time position. The salary range will be $40,000 - $50,000 and will be based on experience with health insurance, life insurance and retirement benefits available.
