St. Mary’s Spiritual Care hosting training event on helping loved ones in recovery
St. Mary’s Department of Spiritual Care and Mission will host a free group leader training event, “Families Motivating Recovery: How You Can Help Your Loved One,” Friday, April 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Mary’s Regional Heart Institute in Room 205.
The featured speaker will be Sky Kershner, executive director of the Kanawha Pastoral Counseling Center. Lunch will be provided.
The training is designed to help attendees be more effective when talking to people about their drug and alcohol use. Participants will learn how to engage persons who are abusing alcohol or drugs in various stages of their addiction and recovery — from denial and ambivalence to preparation for change and taking a positive action.
