The Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce Foundation is a qualified 501(c) 3 organization that was formed to supplement certain activities of the Chamber. The Foundation to date has received grants to support programs like our “Downtown Live” Committee, and has successfully solicited funds for special projects such as public policy studies that help the Chamber lead public policy education on issues such as local government organization and taxation.
The Foundation is currently working on a program to help local non-profits improve their boards by providing training to Executive Director’s and Boards on Board responsibilities and fiscal management. Some funds have been raised for this project, and grant money may also be sought to help support this program.
Other projects of the Chamber Foundation will be to provide funds to help support future studies that can have a major impact on quality of life in the area. In the past, the Chamber has commissioned a study of city operations, and is currently committed to help with a major transportation study that will affect transportation planning in the region for decades. In addition, the Chamber continues to support efforts at Tri-State Airport to promote air service and needed infrastructure improvements through contributions to the Airport Authority.
The Chamber Foundation is also developing a “Chamber Mentor Academy” that will help connect rising local business leaders with senior community leaders to insure that there will be a good network of committed high level community business leaders in place in the future.
