YPC donates $5,000 to Children's Hospital
The Young Professionals Committee (YPC) of the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce recently donated $5,000 to the Cabell Huntington Hospital Children’s Hospital. The donation was raised from the YPC’s New Year’s Eve event, which benefitted the Children’s Hospital. The proposed $12 million Children’s Hospital at CHH will create a child-friendly environment through reconstruction of the Pediatrics Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. It will become a comforting area for children and their families, as well as a state-of-the-art facility for the region’s most comprehensive pediatric team. The YPC is a committee of the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce, which was established to provide leadership opportunities for young professionals and to assist in areas of business networking and community development. For more information about the YPC or to join online, visit huntingtonchamber.org. Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month in the Ohio Room located in the Pullman Plaza Hotel in Huntington. Lunch is $12 and membership information is available at each meeting. If you would like to attend an upcoming meeting, RSVP to (304) 525-5131.
Chamber's YPC gives to Huntington Area Food Bank
The Young Professionals Committee, a subcommittee of the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce, donated $2,500 Tuesday to the Huntington Area Food Bank to help the non-profit organization recover from a recent theft that will cost the agency more than $45,000 in replacement and repair costs.
The Huntington Area Food Bank served more than 91,000 people in the Tri-State area last month through meal programs and last year nearly 3.8 million pounds of food was distributed through giveaways. Those services were put in jeopardy with a recent copper theft at the food banks warehouse in Huntington. Three of the Huntington Area Food Bank’s air conditioning units that are used to keep donated food cold were damaged during the crime.
“This was an easy decision for the YPC to come to the aid of the Huntington Area Food Bank. They provide such a valuable service and losing that would be devastating to many people. We look forward to their involvement in the community for years to come.” said Chris Tatum, Chairman of the YPC.
