Growth and Development
The Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce has an aggressive program of local and regional community development through active committees and partnerships with other organizations.
Community DevelopmentThe Young Professional’s Community Development Sub-Committee is active in working with the Rahall Transportation Institute on a trail system, and a funded project to beautify the floodwall and entrance to Harris River Front Park.
DowntownThe Chamber actively partners with the Huntington WV – Ironton OH Empowerment Zone on downtown Huntington development projects promoting streetscaping and other development issues. The Chamber actively promotes downtown retail members through ribbon cuttings and other announcements. The Chamber is a member of the “Downtown Huntington Partners,” a local retail marketing group.
EducationEducation is an important part of the growth and development of the region. The Chamber has numerous partnerships with Marshall University, MCTC, and Cabell County Schools that range from mentoring college students, providing seminars, promoting business related courses, and providing opportunities for area high school students to have access to colleges and universities through an annual college fair.
Economic Development The Chamber is an active supporter of the Huntington Area Development Council, the region’s economic development agency. By providing support for new businesses recruited to the area and aggressively working to improve the business climate of the region, the Chamber is making the area a better place to grow a successful business.
